Last season the Jackets longest losing streak was 3 which they did 4 times throughout the 82 game campaign.

This season through 37 games the Jackets have 5 game and current 7 game losing streaks.

Last season the Jackets went 25-13-3 at home.

This season they are already 8-6-3.

Last season the Jackets gave up a total of 230 goals.

This season they have already given up 131 goals.  That is a pace of 290 goals against for the year would would be a difference of 60 in the negative column from the year prior.

Wow.

Last season the Jackets scored just 226 goals.

This season the Jackets have scored 105 goals. That is a pace of 232 goals for which would be a difference of 6 goals in the positive column.

Seems like it should be more but the difference is the Jackets aren't scoring at even strength like they did last season.  For instance they rank 18th overall in the league with 61 '5 on 5' goals.  Last year the ranked 8th pumping in 155 goals '5 on 5'.

Just imagine where they might be if they didn't have the PP working.

Out of the players who have 20 or more games under their belt only Jared Boll (+3) and Derek Dorsett (+2) are plus players.  Boll averages just 5:57 in ice time per game while Dorsett gets 10:40.

RJ Umberger currently has the worst +/- on the squad with a -13 and from what I've seen lately his defensive play has warranted said statistic.

Interesting that the two best PPs in the league - Anaheim & Columbus - have the two worst records in the Western Conference.

Something else interesting is that the Jackets rank 16th in average shots for (29.8) and 17th in average shots against (30.5).

Somehow the Jackets are not dead last in average goals against in this league checking in at 27 allowing 3.35 goals per game.

That's enough depression material for one night.
