When the Jackets have lost this year they have lost ugly.  With the loss last night that marked the 3rd time this year they've allowed at least 6 goals.  The Jackets only gave up 6 goals or more in 4 games all of last season.

Regardless of who is out and regardless of circumstance for a team that is built around its checking system and sound goaltending there should be some alarms sounding on Nationwide Blvd.

I finally had a chance to watch the Edmonton game so let's dig into an abbreviated stoplight.

STOPLIGHT GAME REVIEW
@ Edmonton
10.22.09
SCORE: Edmonton 6 Jackets 4

GREEN
*The Jackets did throw 4 even strength goals up on the scoreboard.

* Dorsett continues to do whatever he can to help this team.  I wish half the squad played with his energy and courage in the dirty areas of the ice.  Got a helper.  He also took two penalties but he drew two as well.

*Voracek made some very strong offensive plays down the wing.  He may have something goin w/ Huselius.  Nice line change by Hitch.

*Umberger a beautiful dish to Torres for that lat 1st period goal.  Must have felt pretty good for Torres to score on his former squad and was good to see Umberger get something goin offensively.

* The Dorsett to Pahlsson to Chimera goal was nice.... In fact Chimmer's finish looked like a goal scorer!  Like Torres, must have felt good to do it to his former squad.

* Commodore reactivated.  He can't get back soon enough..

YELLOW

* Listened to some of the game on the radio.  Like the new color guy but I still don't have a clue what's goin on out there when Matthew's calls it.

*Good to see Juice get on the scoreboard with a couple goals especially that quick release on the 2nd goal.  This team needs his offensive production.

* It didn't convert but I continue to like the chances the PP is generating.  Good entries and good puck movement.  The finishing is going to come.
UPDATE: The PP actually did convert on Torres goal.  Assist to meser6!

*Nash had a quiet night but I liked the fact that other stepped up to produce some offense.  4 goals on most nights gets you a point or 2.  The team just didn't get it down on their end of the ice.

*PK couldn't keep it goin forever

RED
* Just can't blow a 3 goal lead in this league.  It can't happen and there isn't any excuse for it.  The Jackets sat back and the Oil turned it up.  Blowing a lead like that is a complete team failure in all facets.

* Very bad coverage down low.  The Jackets just didn't seem physical and couldn't keep up with the Oil's quick pinpoint passing.

* Brass just doesn't seem to have that fire in his game that we saw last year.  Is it rust?  Is it out of shape?  Is he sick or playing through an injury?  Something is just off with him.  Last year he makes that play to clear the puck on that 5th goal with his eyes shut.

* Garon was not sharp.  The Jackets weren't in front of him either but he's got to make some big game stops down the stretch to keep his team in it.  His lateral movement on Hemsky's goal looked like d league.  He was abused on cross ice passes all night.  Interesting that he was also credited with 3 give-aways.

* Nash and Brass both a -3.

* They may have scored 4 even strength which was great... but they gave up another 3 at ES as well.

* Hemsky a Jacket killer again racking up 5 points.  They couldn't contain Penner either who really had a strong game for the Oil and also potted 5 big ones.

*Filatov with only 5 minutes?  I get the limited minutes but why OH why is this kid not out on the powerplay?  Glad he saw that open ice hit comin at the last sec or it could have been Nikita Flatov..

*Unrelated but I walked out of the Chiller after my adult game and 1. they had the damn baseball game on instead of the Jackets and 2. went to Champps down the street to catch the end and they didn't have it on at all.  Burns me up.

3 BRIGHT LIGHTS ON THE NIGHT
1. Juice and Jake chemistry
2. Chimera's goal was sweet
3. Dorsett's energy and heart

Jackets drop to 5-3 and if they aren't real careful they could very well find themselves at 5-5 Monday morning.

Hejda and Commodore... get well soon!!
