I'm so tired of complaining about this team but when I hear things like I did this morning they leave me no choice.
Mike Commodore was on 99.7 the Blitz this a.m. getting interviewed about the up coming season and they got on the topic of training camp...
Well get this... this guy did not even know when camp started! Hell, he didn't even know when the physicals were scheduled for.
He thought physicals were Thursday and camp was on Friday.
The host, Mark The Shark, had to correct him.
Un-friggan-believable.
Must be nice to be our highest paid defensemen set to make 3.8 million big ones this season and not have a damn clue.
I bet he knows when the next horse race is.
What happened to this guy? He was so solid in his first year here. Did he just get by on talent alone then and now father time is catching up to him?
You'd think after the train wreck of a season last year this guy would be 100% focused and locked in for this coming year.
He's supposed to be a leader. He's supposed to be setting the example for the younger players.
...and we wonder this team continues to spin its wheels in mediocrity!
....we wonder why season ticket sales are off 25%!
Here's my question - why should the fans make a commitment to this team when its players won't?
I'll tell you two things:
1. Commodore for Souray looks even better right about now.
2. If I'm Scott Arniel and this guy reports to camp out of shape - again! - his ass is riding the pine or gets put on waivers and buried in the minors until he gets his act together.
I hope he's in shape and has his act together. I hope this was just a brain fart on his part. because I like this guy - I root for him. However I'm done giving the benefit of the doubt to players on this team.
If Commodore or whomever reports to camp out of shape -- it's time to send some real messages to these players.
If certain players don't take the ice Saturday and we hear some kind of PR speak like a "maintenance day" we'll know that chances are that behind the scenes some real messages are being sent.
I hope that is case.
