Yep a conditional 7th basically says it all.. the reality is that Modin has only played 30% of his contract with the CBJ, and when he was healthy he was never truly 100%.. combine that with a $4M+ contract and his age and you have a conditional 7th... The fact we are saving $1M for the remainder of the season is the reward we were given.. literally a throw away.. Reading trade deadline articles it appears everyone was notified of Modin's availabilty but only the kings (With a few hours left), even inquired about Modin.. We are very lucky that Howsen was able to move Modin's contract... great trade.. - eplagge

I have been hearing that the conditional pick from LA for Modin is based on the Kings winning the Stanley Cup. Those are pretty long odds. Still glad that Modin is gone but think Howson could've done better - swinzo1010

Good article Mase1.. Considering the circumstances I think Howsen did a good job... but I agree it's now officially Howsen Time... His draft performance and free agency period will be the key to his legacy.. He now gets to hire the coach and mold the team to his liking.. I was going to analyze our team and predict Howsen's moves but there are simply too many possibilities to make an interesting write up. - eplagge
